Shining hospitality in small Borders hotel
Innerleithen is near Peebles in the rolling landscape of the Tweed Valley. It's a great area for a break – much to see and do, all seasons; Edinburgh 45 mins by car. Caddon View is on the edge of the village; classified as a guest house, it’s nothing like Mrs McGinty’s B&B. It's a haven of hospitality, a big Victorian house with a light, contemporary character, a place with great food and immaculately-maintained bedrooms (kudos, Joyce). Owners are lovely, Lisa and Steve Davies; he's one of those men who seem to just naturally know how to cook. Lisa's also qualified in catering. Heaps of info on what to do locally, including a guest book of ideas. Bedrooms are constantly upgraded – see below for update. A pine-floored lounge with real log stove and big neutral-coloured sofas is perfect for a pre-dinner drink or a curl up with a book. The high-ceilinged restaurant is smart, airy, with a dash of sophistication. Cool music plays. Local, often organic food is dependably good; just delicious. It's all great value; a worthy winner of Scottish Guest House of the Year 2009. A happy place.

Steve and Lisa are great hosts and if you value a kind welcome then you’ll fit here. Their hotel is rather stylish, gets better every year, has received much praise. Restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday evenings. Dogs are welcomed – Ettrick on the ground floor is the dog-friendly room. Mountain-biking and castles nearby. If you love trees, you'll love Dawyck Botanic Garden nearby.
