David Welch, manager, with the Edinburgh Hotel of Year 2009 award
"I returned as manager a few years ago and we have seen a complete, full renovation and restyle of the famous George Hotel. We have a fantastic location on the 'best' street and offer a wide range of room types, including 50 brand-new ones just opened. Tempus Bar & Restaurant has been a great success and we serve excellent cocktails and real, fresh, locally-sourced Scottish food. We were proud to win the Edinburgh Hotel of the Year and also Hotel Bar of the Year awards in 2009! Please see our website for package ideas and more information."

Our review is currently being edited and will be online in a few days. Meantime, our 2010 Recommendation Rating is now online, the weblinks are all working and the hotel’s name is a link to its own website. Thank you. E S S E N T I A L I N F O > Following shortly R A T I N G Recommended L O C A T I O N Map At the St Andrew Square end of George Street, next to the round church and opposite The Dome. Parking is available on street (metered) and the concierge can assist with other parking. T I P S & H I N T S Passionate management (David Welch was Scottish Hotel Manager of Year 2008) and personal interest by Principal Hayley's supportive CEO has brought this hotel on enormously. Book an upper-level room if poss. Ask for a Forth (estuary) view room if available. Rear of building is usually quietest. Restaurant is lively, attractive and serves genuinely fresh, local food so do dine-in. Great offer ideas on hotel’s site. Follow Principal Hayley Hotels on Twitter
